Reported issues with loading CSS styles in Qlik Cloud

In the Qlik Cloud EU region, we have received multiple reports of extensions being broken due to missing CSS styles.

A workaround is to re-import the extensions. For Inphinity extension, you can re-run the installation wizard.

Qlik Sense November 2024 compatibility advisory

In Qlik Sense November 2024, Qlik introduced an additional security measure that restricts session cookies to a single Qlik Virtual Proxy prefix.

This breaks compatibility with Inphinity Forms versions older than v14.0 (Inphinity Suite November 2024) when using a Virtual Proxy with non-empty prefix.

If you are using virtual proxies in your environment, please upgrade Inphinity Forms to v14.0 or newer before upgrading Qlik Sense to November 2024.

The Inphinity Forms v14.0 release is planned for November 26, 2024.

Security Advisory 2024-06-18 - Default configuration allows unrestricted access to administrative functions

Summary

A default configuration of Inphinity Forms could have unintentionally allowed authenticated non-administrative users to gain administrative privileges on Forms instances.This can lead to Denial of Service, Information disclosure and Privilege Escalation.

Details

Since v6.0, when GROUPS access control mode was introduced, the default configuration contained configuration option adminGroups with default value *. This configuration option was inactive until GROUPS access control mode was deliberately enabled by the administrator. While activating the GROUPS access control mode, the administrator was instructed to adjust the default adminGroups.

This had no ill effect until v12.0.0 when new REST API was introduced and authentication was reworked. Unintentionally, the adminGroups has become effective even in access control modes different than GROUPS.

Since v12.0.0, if adminGroups was set to *, all authenticated users gained ADMIN role.

Mitigation

For on-premise and hybrid installations of versions older than v12.0.0 no action is required, but it is recommended to remove the default <adminGroups>*</adminGroups> so it does not unintentionally come into effect.

For on-premise and hybrid installations of versions from v12.0.0 to v13.0.0 (including) it is required to remove the <adminGroups>*</adminGroups> option from config.xml or to update to v13.0.1.

For on-premise and hybrid installations of version v13.0.1 and newer, no action is required, but it is recommended to remove the default <adminGroups>*</adminGroups> configuration if it is present due to upgrade from previous versions.

For users of Inphinity Forms SaaS, no action is required.

Fix

Version v13.0.1 applies the adminGroups option only if the GROUPS access control is selected. Moreover, the default configuration no longer contains the too-broad * value for adminGroups option.

Extensions corrupted in Qlik Cloud

Multiple customer have reported an issue in Qlik Cloud where Forms extensions are not able to load.

We determined that it is caused by Qlik Cloud serving a corrupted version of the extension.

To fix the issue, extensions need to be deleted from Qlik Management console and then re-uploaded to Qlik Cloud using install.myinphinity.com or manually by downloading them from the Download Page and importing them into Qlik Cloud management console.

The investigation of root cause is pending.

Update 9:00 GMT: Qlik Cloud team was notified of the issue. Loading the extension is now failing with following error: Cannot read the encrypted resource file, indicating an issue with Qlik encrypted storage

Update 10:50 GMT Qlik has published a status note, stating they are deployin a fix for the issue https://statusa-an5d9w.qlikcloud.com/

Update 12:30 GMT:

Qlik has informed the propagation of the issue has stopped and now they are fixing affected tenants: https://status.qlikcloud.com/

We have been notified the installation using install.myinphinity.com is failing as well and the affected extensions need to be removed using Qlik management console first.

At 20:25 GMT Qlik has informed via the status page that the issue has been resolved. We are now stopping monitoring this issue, no further updates are expected.
